The CASHIER provide assistance to medical office patients in collecting office visit payments and accurately entering daily charges and payments into the computer system.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Calculates charges and collects payments for each office visit
- Collects co-payments and pre-payments on surgeries and balances accounts
- Keys all office visits charges and payments into computer system
- Balances all of the days charges and payments, turns in deposits and runs audit and journal reports each day
- Is knowledgeable of and efficiently operates the Company’s practice management system without error
- Accepts credit card payments and balances the credit card machine each day
- Assists patients with directions to destinations as needed
- Answers questions and resolves problems as necessary
- Stays current on coding and billing changes
- Assists with the training of new employees
- Is responsible for knowing the work schedule, observing work hours and maintaining a good attendance record
- Attends in-service programs as directed or required
- Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with patients, employees, supervisors and the public. Exemplifies the Company’s Five Star Program
- Follows all corporate and departmental policies and procedures and complies with the Employee Handbook
- Performs other tasks as needed or directed.
PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Accountability: Reports directly to the Cashier Supervisor
- Education or Training: Must be a high school graduate or earned a GED
- Knowledge and Experience: Requires at least 1 year of previous cashiering or banking experience
- Dexterity: Must have good manual dexterity. Must be able to function in an office setting
- Accuracy: Must be able to post payments into the computer system without error and give correct change to patients
- Physical Activity: Physical activity involves keying, reaching, carrying, looking, listening, talking, bending, lifting, standing, walking, and much sitting, resulting in light work
- Exertion Requirements: Light - must be able to lift or carry up to 10 pounds of weight up to 10 feet occasionally (up to 1/3 of the time), or a negligible amount of weight up to 10 feet frequently (from 1/3 to 2/3 of the time). Light work requires sitting most of the time, but may involve periods of standing and walking depending on task requirements
- Working Conditions: Works in an office setting, which is well-lighted, ventilated and temperature regulated. Automobile travel may be required
- Must be able to concentrate on work tasks amidst distractions, such as noise, conversations and foot traffic
- Must be able to work in a confined area performing repetitive work for extended periods of time
- Hazards or Risks: In office minimal

Pay: $13.94 - $14.21 per hour
