Duties
- Greet patients and visitors warmly, providing excellent customer service at the front desk.
- Schedule appointments efficiently using electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks.
- Verify insurance coverage, perform insurance verification, and handle medical billing and collections with accuracy.
- Manage patient records by filing, updating, and reviewing medical documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Answer multi-line phone systems professionally, directing calls appropriately and taking detailed messages.
- Assist with intake procedures, including collecting patient information and updating medical histories.
- Support administrative tasks such as data entry, typing reports, and maintaining office supplies to ensure clinic efficiency.
Experience
- Proven experience working in a medical office environment or healthcare setting, preferably in clinics or dental offices.
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems like Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, Dentrix, Eaglesoft or similar platforms.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, CPT coding, ICD-9/10 coding for accurate documentation review and billing processes.
- Strong understanding of HIPAA compliance and health information management practices.
- Excellent computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and office management software.
- Bilingual abilities are highly valued to serve diverse patient populations effectively.
