Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and compassionate Medical Receptionist to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing front desk operations, ensuring a smooth patient experience, and providing essential administrative support in a medical office setting. This role requires strong communication skills, familiarity with medical terminology, and proficiency in various electronic health record (EHR) systems.
Responsibilities
- Greet patients and visitors in a friendly and professional manner.
- Manage patient scheduling, including appointments, follow-ups, and cancellations.
- Handle incoming calls on a multi-line phone system, addressing inquiries and directing calls appropriately.
- Collect and verify patient information, including insurance details and medical history.
- Process medical collections and assist with billing inquiries.
- Maintain accurate medical records and documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Review care plans and ensure proper coding using ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT coding, and other relevant coding systems.
- Assist with insurance verification and pre-authorizations as needed.
- Provide clerical support including filing, typing, and data entry using Microsoft Office applications.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to facilitate patient care and administrative tasks.
Requirements
- Previous experience as a Medical Receptionist or in a similar medical administrative role is preferred.
- Familiarity with EHR systems eClinicalWorks is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, coding (ICD-9/ICD-10), billing processes, and insurance verification is essential.
- Strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively with patients and staff.
