Medical Receptionist

<Duties>

  • Greet patients warmly, verify their information, and assist with check-in procedures using Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks
  • Schedule appointments efficiently while managing calendar updates and patient flow to minimize wait times
  • Verify insurance coverage, perform insurance eligibility checks, and process medical collections accurately
  • Handle multi-line phone systems with professional phone etiquette, directing calls appropriately and taking detailed messages when necessary
  • Maintain accurate medical records by filing documents, reviewing documentation for completeness, and updating patient charts in compliance with HIPAA regulations
  • Assist with medical billing tasks including CPT coding, ICD-10/ICD-9 coding, and documentation review to ensure accurate claims submission
  • Support administrative tasks such as data entry, filing, and managing office supplies to keep the front desk organized and efficient

<Skills>

  • Strong knowledge of EMR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, eClinicalWorks, or Dentrix; experience with Eaglesoft is a plus
  • Proficiency in medical terminology, ICD coding (ICD-10/ICD-9), CPT coding, and familiarity with healthcare documentation standards
  • Experience with insurance verification processes including Medicare and other payers; understanding of medical billing and collections procedures
  • Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly in bilingual environments if applicable
  • Demonstrated clerical skills including typing (10 key typing), Microsoft Office suite proficiency, filing, and managing multi-line phone systems
  • Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality at all times
  • Previous clinic or dental office experience is highly desirable; familiarity with dental terminology and dental office management software such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft is a plus
  • Ability to handle high-volume patient intake efficiently while maintaining professionalism under pressure
