Medical Receptionist

Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and organized Medical Receptionist to join our healthcare team! Responsibilities

  • Greet patients warmly and assist with check-in, check-out, and appointment scheduling using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Epic, Meditech, or Athenahealth
  • Verify insurance coverage, process payments, and handle collections related to medical billing and coding, including CPT, ICD-9, ICD-10 codes
  • Manage multi-line phone systems with professional phone etiquette to answer inquiries, schedule appointments, and relay messages accurately
  • Maintain accurate medical records by filing documents, reviewing documentation for completeness, and updating patient information in EHR (Electronic Health Record) systems like eClinicalWorks or Dentrix
  • Assist with insurance verification processes and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations for patient privacy and health information management
  • Support clinical staff by coordinating care plans, preparing intake forms, and managing front desk operations efficiently
  • Utilize computer skills to operate office equipment such as 10-key typing devices, Microsoft Office applications, Eaglesoft or Dentrix dental practice management software

Skills

  • Extensive knowledge of medical terminology, ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10), CPT coding, and medical billing procedures
  • Proficiency in EMR systems including Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, eClinicalWorks, Dentrix or Eaglesoft for documentation review and data entry
  • Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations to ensure confidentiality and secure handling of patient information
  • Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally over the phone and in person
  • Bilingual abilities are highly desirable to serve diverse patient populations effectively
  • Prior clinic or medical office experience with familiarity in insurance verification, appointment scheduling, and medical administrative support
  • Competent in office management tasks such as filing, record keeping, and managing multi-line phone systems
  • Ability to adapt quickly to new software platforms like Hospital experience or dental office management tools such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft
