The Medical Receptionist plays a key role in delivering high-quality patient service while ensuring the smooth operation of front office functions. As the first point of contact, this position creates a welcoming and professional environment for patients and supports clinical staff through accurate scheduling, effective communication, and efficient administrative support.
Key Responsibilities
- Greet and check in patients in a professional and friendly manner
- Answer and manage incoming phone calls, directing inquiries appropriately
- Schedule, reschedule, and confirm patient appointments
- Verify patient demographics, insurance information, and eligibility
- Collect co-pays, balances, and process payments accurately
- Maintain patient records in the electronic medical record (EMR) system
- Handle incoming and outgoing correspondence (phone, fax, email)
- Manage patient flow and notify clinical staff of arrivals
- Ensure confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Assist with prior authorizations, referrals, and medical records requests as needed
- Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient front desk area
