Medical Record Coder

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Biological Sciences, preferably Physiology
• Trained in Medical Coding (ICD-10-CM/PCS)
• Knowledge of legal and regulatory requirements related to health records (e.g., SHCC, HIPAA for reference)

Required Experience:

• Minimum 1 year of relevant experience in a hospital HIMS/Medical Records department, including:

▪ Medical coding using ICD-10-CM/PCS
▪ Clinical documentation review and audits
▪ Familiarity with coding software and hospital information systems (HIS)
▪ Exposure to EHR workflows and coding compliance practices

Required Skills:

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
• Willingness to support quality improvement and documentation clarity initiatives
