Urology Group of Athens is seeking a full-time Medical Scribe to assist the physician and Nurse Practitioners. This is a unique opportunity to be a part of a dynamic team and a growing urological practice. Urology Group of Athens treats each patient with the compassion and discretion they deserve.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

· Ability to work primarily in Athens and possibly travel to Lavonia

· Accompany the physician/Nurse Practitioner into the patient examination room to transcribe a history and physical exam, and document accurately the physician/Nurse Practitioner’s encounter with the patient and others present

· List all proper diagnoses and symptoms, as well as follow up instruction and prescriptions as dictated by the provider

· Transcribes patient orders, including laboratory tests, radiology tests, medications, etc.

· Documents any procedures performed by the physician/Nurse Practitioner

· Provides feedback about any data entry errors and reviews records using accurate spelling, correct grammar, and completeness before they are sent to the provider for review and signing.

· Responsible for keeping the provider moving in the office during clinic hours

· Maintains professional appearance and conduct at all times

· Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with providers, staff, and management

· Documents work processes as required

· Performs other duties as assigned

COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS:

· Medical terminology

· Recognition of the physical exam process and ability to record exam details

· Computer proficiency and ability to quickly learn new applications

· Ability to accurately record information

· Organizational skills with a focus on tracking patient care and improving patient flow

· Professional demeanor and recognition of privacy considerations for patients and families

· Ability to multitask efficiently and effectively

· Ability to communicate effectively and professionally

· Requires adherence to all policies and procedures, including but not limited to standards for safety, attendance, and punctuality

· Ability to maintain patient confidentiality

· Ability to use a computer using Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel

· Ability to scan documents and catalogue patient records

EXPERIENCE AND/OR EDUCATION

Required

· High School diploma or higher

· Recent or upcoming Graduate looking to take a gap year before attending Medical or Physician’s Assistant School.

  • Looking for at least a 10-month commitment to the job.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $12.00 per hour

Expected hours: 32 – 40 per week
