Medical Scribe and Medical Assistant

Overview: The medical scribe will work directly with the physician in an outpatient office setting to ensure accurate completion of medical documentation. The scribe will accompany the physician into the exam room to document the patient encounter. The scribe will assist with other clinical duties in the office to improve patient flow, including working as a medical assistant when needed. This is a great position for a pre-med or pre-PA student seeking experience and hours in a healthcare setting.

Responsibilities:

- Gather medical records for review by the physician to prepare for each patient encounter

- Take notes during patient encounters, documenting the patient’s history, physical exam, and medical discussion

- Complete medical documentation for each patient encounter

- Proofread medical documents for spelling, grammar, and punctuation

- Become familiar with the electronic medical records system

- Become familiar with relevant medical terminology

- Communicate with physicians, medical assistants, patients, and other office staff in a professional manner

- Assist with other clerical tasks under the supervision of the physician to ensure patient flow and improve physician productivity and efficiency

Qualifications:

- High school diploma required

- College degree or credits preferred

- Excellent writing skills.

- Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills

- Excellent organizational skills

- Advanced computer proficiency
