Position Overview
Coast Injury Medicine is seeking an experienced Medical Assistant (MA) and/or Medical Scribe to join our clinical team. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a fast-growing Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation practice.
The Medical Assistant will provide direct clinical support to physicians and practitioners, assisting with both office visits and procedural care. This role involves working closely with multiple providers and supporting patients throughout their visit, including pre- and post-procedure care.
Responsibilities Include
- Assisting and escorting patients to examination rooms
- Interviewing patients and accurately recording medical histories
- Entering and documenting patient information in the electronic health record (EHR)
- Answering and returning patient phone calls
- Assisting with patient preparation and positioning during fluoroscopic procedures, as directed by the physician
- Providing pre-visit and post-visit support to clinical and procedural patients
- Relaying diagnostic test results to patients and their families under physician guidance
- Assisting patients with questions or concerns regarding their treatment
- Preparing procedural equipment
- Maintaining equipment maintenance and testing logs
- Performing sterilization of medical equipment
Knowledge and Skills
- Highly organized and detail-oriented
- Strong initiative and planning skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Extensive experience with Electronic Health Records (EHR) and practice management systems
- Working knowledge of eClinicalWorks preferred
- Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel)
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a medical office setting
- At least 2 years of experience in orthopedics and/or pain management preferred
Working Conditions
- Fast-paced clinical environment
- Constant interaction with physicians and patients
- Must be able to assist patients with standing, sitting, and transferring onto examination tables
- Frequent standing, walking, pivoting, and movement throughout the day
