Medical Specialist

Position Title: Offshore Medic

Department: HSE / Operations Support

Reports To: Offshore HSE Officer / Master (Captain)

Location: Offshore Qatar

Rotation: 28 days on / 28 days off (or as per project schedule)

Job Purpose:

To provide primary emergency medical care and ongoing healthcare support to all personnel onboard the vessel, ensuring the well-being of the crew and supporting overall project health and safety objectives.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Primary Medical Care: Provide 24/7 emergency medical response and primary healthcare for crew and client personnel. Stabilize and prepare patients for medevac if required.
  • Clinic Management: Operate and maintain the vessel's medical clinic/sick bay, ensuring all medical equipment is functional and pharmaceuticals are within expiry date. Maintain strict controlled drug registers.
  • Medical Administration: Maintain confidential medical records for all personnel. Conduct pre-embarkation medical checks and monitor health status of crew.
  • Hygiene & Health Inspections: Conduct regular inspections of galley, food storage, accommodation, and sanitation facilities. Advise the Master on public health matters.
  • Training: Conduct regular first aid and CPR training for designated crew members (first aid team). Lead medical aspects of emergency drills.
  • HSE Support: Assist the HSE Officer with health promotion campaigns, fatigue management monitoring, and implementation of the Project Health Plan.
  • Reporting: Prepare and submit weekly medical reports and any incident-related medical reports to onshore management.
  • Qualifications & Experience:


    • Education: Recognized and current professional medical qualification as a Registered Nurse (RN), Paramedic, or Medical Doctor (MD).
    • Certifications (Mandatory):
    • Valid OPITO-approved Offshore Medic certificate.
    • Valid BOSIET/TFOET with CA-EBS, HUET, and Offshore Medical Certificate.
    • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) or equivalent.
    • Trauma Life Support (e.g., ITLS, PHTLS) certification.
    • Experience: Minimum 5 years of post-qualification clinical experience, with at least 2 years of recent experience as an Offshore Medic in the oil & gas industry. Experience on marine vessels is a strong advantage.
    • Skills: Proficient in emergency medicine, triage, and primary care. Excellent interpersonal skills. Calm and decisive under pressure. Fluent in English.
