Overview:

Our client, a Medical Center facility under the aegis of a California Public Ivy university and one of largest health delivery systems in California, seeks accomplished Medical Staff Quality Specialist.

*** Duration: 22 weeks contract w/ possibility of extension

Notes:

  • Work Arrangement: Hybrid – Mostly remote, but required onsite as needed (e.g., staff meetings, accreditation surveys, peer review meetings, etc.).
  • Schedule: Monday–Friday, flexible daytime shift (8-hour shift between 6:00 AM–6:00 PM, unless overtime is required).

Description:

· Reporting to the Director of Medical Staff Administration, the Medical Staff Quality Specialist provides data and analytical support and to the Organized Medical Staff for OPPE and peer review processes. This includes support for peer review and professionalism investigations.

· The role is responsible for the design, implementation, and management of reporting systems and databases, as well as new and ongoing projects related to medical staff evaluation and credentialing.

· Collaborate with the Director of Medical Staff Administration in analyzing individual and group OPPE and peer review data.

· Complete assigned projects related to medical staff data collection, analysis, and reporting.

· Generate reports from the peer review database as requested and on a recurring basis.

· Maintain the integrity of data by ensuring timely, accurate, and consistent information use.

· Summarize and report OPPE and peer review data.

· Assist in improving the quality of data and information, including auditing data collection processes.

· Participate in medical staff committees and teams to help track quality outcomes and measures.

· Maintain knowledge of Joint Commission and other regulatory standards related to medical staff credentialing, privileging, ongoing evaluation, and professionalism.

· Promote customer service philosophy by fostering cooperative and respectful interactions with colleagues, patients, and staff.

· Maintain and improve knowledge of medical staff regulatory requirements.

· Participate in Institutional Quality Event Reviews.

Qualifications:

· Bachelor’s degree required.

· Minimum 3 years of relevant healthcare/clinical experience in a medical staff or hospital setting.

· Experience managing FPPE, OPPE, and professionalism cases in medical staff offices.

· Clinical background preferred (no certification/licensure required).

· Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

· Strong technical skills in database management.

· Strong project coordination and planning abilities.

· Significant experience with data and trend analysis, statistical reporting, and application development.

· Ability to understand and analyze complex data sets.

· Knowledge of project management techniques.

· Excellent communication and presentation skills, including the ability to educate multidisciplinary staff.

· Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines.

· Ability to work with Medical Staff Leadership in managing complex peer review processes.

· Commitment to maintaining confidentiality in OPPE and peer review processes.
