The Medical Support Assistant is a medical administrative assistant who provides procedure scheduling and administrative support while traveling between our Riverview and Tampa, Florida locations with an assigned Physician. This is a non-technical, administrative role.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Coordinates Physician’s office schedule to maximize efficiency and keep Provider on task.
- Communicates effectively and flexibly responds to changing demands to ensure smooth workflow and continuity of appointments.
- Triages telephone messages and returns calls to provide prompt answers to callers.
- Collaborates effectively with patients and staff at all levels.
- Rooms, interviews, and safely transports patients via wheelchair.
- Coordinates and schedules injections, procedures, and follow up appointments as designated by physician.
- Maintains files and patient records in a confidential manner consistent with HIPAA rules.
- Performs other administrative, non-clinical duties as directed or assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma
- Minimum of 2 (two) years’ experience in a medical office with surgical scheduling experience preferred
- Highly organized, multitasks with sense of urgency, utilizes good judgment, and strong problem solver
- Able to reliably travel between Riverview and Tampa, FL offices as clinic schedule dictates
- Provides superior patient care, exceptional customer service, and practices professional email, telephone etiquette, and interpersonal skills with all levels of staff
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to safely push and maneuver occupied wheelchairs up to 75 pounds of force.
- Ability to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.
- Able to spend prolonged periods sitting at a desk while working on a computer, standing, walking, and navigating hallways, elevators, and outdoor walkways.
