Spectrum Healthcare Resources has an exciting Potential opportunity for a Medical Support Assistant (MSA) to support the Department of Veterans Affairs in Anchorage, AK . This position plays a vital role in ensuring Veterans receive timely access to care while delivering exceptional customer service in a mission-driven healthcare environment.

As a Medical Support Assistant, you will serve as a key point of contact for Veterans , helping coordinate appointments, manage consults, and ensure smooth clinic operations.

What You'll Do

• Serve as the initial point of contact for Veterans, families, and visitors
• Schedule appointments and manage clinic access using VA electronic systems
• Maintain and monitor Electronic Wait Lists, consults, and recall lists
• Assist Veterans with scheduling and care coordination
• Provide timely and professional phone support
• Communicate clearly with clinical staff to support patient care
• Resolve patient concerns and escalate issues when necessary
• Maintain accurate patient information within electronic medical records
  
  

Customer Service Standards

• Deliver respectful, courteous service to Veterans and staff
• Address concerns promptly (initiate within 24 hours)
• Assist patients in making informed healthcare decisions
• Maintain professionalism and confidentiality at all times
• Promote a positive image of the VA mission and team
  
  

Qualifications

• U.S. Residency required
• High School Diploma or GED
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Typing speed of 50 WPM or higher
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel preferred)
• Experience working with electronic medical records
• Knowledge of medical terminology preferred
• Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently
