Position Overview:
Assist in the care of patients under the supervision of licensed staff and assist the professional nursing staff by performing non-clinical routine or less-skilled tasks in the care of patients and environment.
Essential Functions:

Supervise and assist with the storage, distribution, and discontinuation of residents’ oral medication(s).

Document medications and other issues appropriately.

Report observations to licensed nurses, reporting immediately any changes in resident’s condition to supervisor.

Monitor vital signs as needed by personnel with current license / qualifications (as required by state regulations).

Perform job duties for residents and with team members in a courteous and professional manner.

Demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the needs of the residents served.

Deliver water, pitchers and ice to resident rooms, answer call lights, assist in getting the correct person to help the resident, and make beds.

Take residents to activities and to meals.

Keep patients' environment clean, such as beds, bedside stands, and wardrobe closets.

Keep service areas clean and equipped, including utility rooms.

Ensure proper inventory of supplies and operational equipment.

Notify nurses of any change in patients’ condition on a timely basis.

Report any equipment in need of repair to the supervisor and in the Maintenance Log.
Knowledge, Skills, and Ability:

Possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.

Aptitude to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the general public.

Willingness to work harmoniously with other personnel.

Able to relate information concerning a resident’s condition.
Requirements and Education:

Must be 18 years of age or older and have a High School diploma or equivalent.

This position requires the successful completion of a background check, pre-employment physical, and drug screening as part of the hiring process.
