The Medical Transcriptionist is responsible for accurately transcribing and converting physicians’ dictations and clinical recordings into written medical reports. The role requires strong understanding of medical terminology, high accuracy, and confidentiality.
Key Responsibilities1. Transcription & Documentation
- Transcribe physicians’ dictated recordings into accurate medical reports, discharge summaries, consultation notes, and procedure notes.
- Ensure correct grammar, formatting, and medical terminology.
- Proofread and edit transcriptions for clarity and accuracy.
- Maintain consistency in medical documentation standards as per DOH/MOH requirements.
2. Record Management
- Upload and categorize completed reports into the EMR system.
- Ensure timely delivery of transcribed documents to concerned doctors/nurses.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and data privacy at all times.
3. Coordination with Medical Team
- Clarify unclear audio or ambiguous medical terms by coordinating with physicians.
- Ensure documentation aligns with clinical practices and physician preferences.
- Assist doctors in updating templates, formats, and preferred styles of documentation.
4. Compliance & Quality Checking
- Follow DOH (Department of Health) documentation guidelines.
- Ensure zero errors in patient identification, history, diagnosis, and procedures.
- Check for missing information and highlight inconsistencies to doctors.
5. Administrative Support
- Assist in preparing medical letters, certificates, summaries, and reports.
- Archive and maintain copies of completed documents.
- Support front desk and nursing staff with documentation tasks when needed.
Required Qualifications & SkillsEducation & Experience
- Minimum 1–2 years of experience as a Medical Transcriptionist (preferably in UAE healthcare).
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, especially in surgery, radiology, and diagnostics.
- Experience using EMR/EHR systems is an advantage.
