Medical Transcriptionist (Contract)

NMCI Medical is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Medical Transcriptionist to accurately transcribe dictated recordings from physicians and other healthcare providers into clear, comprehensive written reports, correspondence, and administrative documents.

This role supports a multidisciplinary practice with specialties including orthopedics, physiatry, physical therapy, psychology, and musculoskeletal injury care. This is a remote, independent contractor position.

Key Responsibilities

• Transcribe medical dictations into accurate and well-formatted reports
• Review and edit transcriptions for clarity, grammar, and medical accuracy
• Ensure proper use of medical terminology and adherence to documentation standards
• Maintain confidentiality and comply with all applicable privacy regulations
• Manage and organize transcription files using designated platforms

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year of medical transcription experience, or certification as a Registered Medical Transcriptionist (RMT) or Certified Medical Transcriptionist (CMT)
• Strong knowledge of medical terminology and human anatomy
• Typing speed of 60 WPM
• Excellent attention to detail and proofreading skills
• Proficiency with computers and Microsoft Office applications
• Experience with file-sharing platforms such as Dropbox
• Familiarity with transcription software (e.g., Express Scribe or similar)

Technical Requirements

• Reliable computer and high-speed internet connection
• Personal transcription equipment

Compensation

• Fees are structured on a per-line basis, with payment based on the number of lines transcribed
• Line definitions and rates will be discussed and agreed upon based on experience and quality standards
