Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Medical/Dental Receptionist to join our healthcare team. Responsibilities
- Greet patients and visitors warmly, ensuring a positive first impression while managing check-in and check-out procedures efficiently.
- Schedule appointments using electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic, Meditech, or Athenahealth, maintaining accurate calendar management.
- Verify insurance coverage, perform insurance eligibility checks, and process billing and collections using medical billing software and CPT coding standards.
- Handle multi-line phone systems with professionalism, providing clear communication and directing calls appropriately.
- Manage patient records by updating medical histories, reviewing documentation for accuracy, and maintaining confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Assist with patient intake processes, including collecting medical histories, updating demographic information, and explaining clinic procedures.
- Support clinical staff by preparing necessary documentation, reviewing care plans, and ensuring proper coding with ICD-10/ICD-9 codes for billing purposes.
- Utilize EMR systems such as eClinicalWorks or Dentrix to document patient interactions accurately and efficiently.
- Perform office management duties including filing, data entry (10 key typing), appointment reminders, and maintaining organized medical records.
- Verify insurance claims for Medicare or other providers to facilitate timely reimbursements while adhering to HIPAA guidelines.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Medical or Dental Receptionist with clinic or healthcare office experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, ICD coding (ICD-10/ICD-9), CPT coding, and medical billing procedures.
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, eClinicalWorks, Dentrix or Eaglesoft is highly desirable.
- Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and health information management software.
- Exceptional customer service skills with professional phone etiquette and the ability to handle multi-line phone systems confidently.
- Bilingual abilities are a plus to serve diverse patient populations effectively.
- Ability to review documentation thoroughly while maintaining accuracy under pressure.
- Strong organizational skills with clerical experience in filing, scheduling, insurance verification, and office management tasks.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality at all times.
