Member Service Representative/ Teller

Summary Description

Member Service Representatives provide basic cash and other non-loan services to members.

Major Job Functions

• Assist members with routine transactions and service requests (i.e., deposits, withdrawals, money orders, traveler’s checks, check cashing, balance inquiries).
• Provide accurate, complete, courteous member service.
• Maintain working knowledge of all credit union products and services.
• Examine negotiable instruments for proper endorsements and negotiability.
• Process mail receipts and transactions.
• Process night depository items.
• Produce starter checks.
• Process and file forms and other documentation.
• Balance cash and transactions.
• Cross-sell credit union products and services.
• Maintain working knowledge of consumer regulations which effect the products and services offered by the credit union.
• Handle telephone inquiry and transaction requests.
• Maintain a working knowledge of the credit union’s data processing system.
• Maintain appropriate security and internal controls.
• Satisfactorily completes all required compliance training and complies with all regulations which apply within the scope of the position.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Working knowledge of applicable member account and negotiable instrument laws and regulations.
• Working knowledge of credit union member account policies and procedures and generally accepted business practices for financial institution accounts, services, and products.
• Ability to work effectively as a * team player*, placing the interests of the credit union above individual interests.
• Ability to work effectively with staff, management, members, and the general public.
• Ability to work independently, meeting various deadlines and productivity requirements without close supervision.
• Ability and willingness to change and adapt to the credit union’s business as needed.
