POSITION DESCRIPTION

Position Title: Part-Time Member Service Representative

(Potential full-time employment after 90 day probation period)

Hours: 9:00a - 2:00p Monday-Friday

Reporting Relationships

Position Reports to: Manager

Position Purpose:

Responsible for providing a variety of paying and receiving functions for members in person, via phone, and through the mail, including processing deposits, withdrawals, loan payments/processing. Balances each day’s transactions totals and verifies and close transaction drawer at the end of the day. Performs a broad variety of member services functions such as opening and closing accounts, payroll deductions, and assisting members with their share accounts. Answers members’ inquiries regarding Credit Union services provided and performs a variety of account maintenance duties. Performs specific assigned duties including various clerical functions, and assist other Member Service Representatives with duties as required. Serves members promptly and professionally, process transfer authorizations and comply with BSA requirements. Completes required projects/reports accurately and promptly. Ensures that work area is clean, secure and well maintained. Keeps manager informed of any significant problems or concerns.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES

  • Assumes responsibility for the efficient, effective, and accurate performance of teller functions.
  • Represents the Credit Union in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Receives share deposits and loan payments.
  • Disburses check share withdrawals.
  • Processes transfers.
  • Verifies transactions. Monitors deposits amounts and examines documents for endorsement, detects and resolves discrepancies promptly.
  • Balances daily transactions and totals.
  • Assumes responsibility for the effective and professional performance of member service functions.
  • Presents and explains Credit Union services and products to members and assists in meeting their financial needs. Opens and closes accounts. Completes payroll deduction and authorization forms.
  • Answers questions and solves problems for members by listening to problems, collecting data, securing answers and reporting results to the inquiring party.
  • Receives and directs members and telephone calls. Responds to inquiries and questions if possible or directs them as necessary. Records and relays messages.
  • Keeps members informed of Credit Union services and policies, including types of available accounts, interest and dividend rates, payroll deduction options and other related services.
  • Maintains and projects the Credit Union’s professional reputation. Maintains privacy of member account information.
  • Assumes responsibility for establishing and maintaining effective coordination and working relationships with management.
  • Keeps manager informed of any significant problems or concerns.
  • Completes required reports and records accurately and promptly.
  • Attends meetings as required.
  • Assumes responsibility for related duties as required or assigned.
  • Ensures that work area is clean, secure, and well maintained.
  • Performs related clerical duties as required.

PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENTS

  • Teller and Member Service Representative functions are efficiently, effectively, and accurately performed in accordance with established policies, standards, and security procedures.
  • GL and members accounts are balanced and any discrepancies promptly resolved.
  • Good business exist with members. Members’ problems or questions are courteously and promptly resolved.
  • Good working relationships and coordination exist with staff and management. Assistance is provided to other Member Service Representatives and staff as needed
  • The Credit Union’s professional reputation is maintained and conveyed.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Certification: High School graduate or equivalent.

Required Knowledge: Knowledge of Teller and Member Service Representative operations and procedures.

Proficient understanding of Credit Union operations.

Experience Required: 2 or more years of working in a Credit Union and customer service, must possess basic accounting skills. Ability to operate related computer applications and other business equipment including adding machines, and multiline telephone. Good typing skills, communication skills and math skills is a must. Must be dependable and willing to multi-task

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour

Expected hours: 25 per week
