Position: Memory Care & Assisted Living Caregiver (Full-Time / Part-Time)
Shifts Available: AM / PM / NOC
Pay Rate: $18–$19 per hour (based on experience and qualifications, in accordance with California pay transparency laws)
Vista Del Mar Senior Living is seeking a compassionate and reliable caregiver to join our team. You’ll work closely with residents in Memory Care and Assisted Living, building meaningful relationships while providing dignified, high-quality care.

Essential Functions:
Resident Care
- Assists residents with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, eating, transferring, and mobility.
- Engages residents in meaningful conversation, socialization, and activity while providing personal care assistance.
- Responds to resident needs and/or requests for care promptly and provides or obtains assistance as necessary.
- Upholds resident rights at all times.
- Supports and upholds all company policies and care philosophy.
- Observes residents for changes in physical, emotional, mental, or behavioral condition, unusual symptoms, accidents, injuries, or occurrences, and reports promptly to a licensed nurse.
- Completes all forms and documentation such as incident reports, change of condition reports, and behavior tracking, as requested, and in a timely manner.
- Assists in the dining room during resident meal times.
- Encourages residents to participate in scheduled activities and outings and assists as needed.
- Provides residents with opportunities for self-expression and enhanced self-esteem through individual or small group interaction and activities.
Housekeeping
- Maintains clean, safe, and orderly resident rooms and common areas
- Makes resident beds, empties resident garbage, and tidies resident rooms daily and as needed.
- Changes bed linens according to community schedule and as needed.
- Changes towels on bath days and as needed if soiled.
- Assists with resident laundry per shift guidelines.
- Maintains resident clothing and closets in a clean, neat, and orderly manner.
- Cleans dining room tables and chairs after meals and snacks.
- Notifies housekeeping staff of spills or soiled areas and assists with clean-up as needed.
- Straightens furniture and common areas and returns misplaced items to appropriate locations.
- Assists in cleaning wheelchairs, walkers, and other resident equipment per schedule and as needed.
- Assists with dusting, vacuuming, and other general housekeeping duties as assigned.
Other Duties
- Attends required staff meetings and training sessions.
- Demonstrates a positive attitude and contributes to a team-oriented environment.
- Answers phones as needed in a prompt and courteous manner.
- Promotes customer service and positive community relations.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Working Conditions:
- Must be able to work full-time /part-time on assigned shifts, including weekends and holidays, as scheduled.
- Scheduling may vary based on operational needs and will comply with applicable California wage and hour laws.
- Maintains reliable and consistent attendance and punctuality in accordance with scheduled shifts and applicable leave laws.
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule based on operational needs, with advance notice provided in accordance with applicable law.
- Follows all company policies, procedures, and guidelines as outlined in the employee handbook.
Physical/Sensory Requirements:
- Must be able to visually and physically perform essential job functions.
- Medium work – ability to exert 20–50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10–20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to lift, carry, pull, or move objects.
- Must be able to see well enough to write and read, and to visually interact with residents, families, and staff.
- Must be able to communicate effectively with residents, families, and staff.
Minimum Eligibility Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
- Previous experience working with older adults in a residential or long-term care setting is preferred.
- Must be able to read, write, and speak English sufficiently to perform the essential functions of the job.
- Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Must be able to obtain and/or maintain required certifications (e.g., CPR, First Aid, Food Handlers) as required by applicable state or local regulations.
- Must successfully pass a background check and, where applicable, a health screening, in compliance with California regulations for residential care facilities.
