Mental Health Counselor/Substance Abuse Counselor

DEPARTMENT: Vantage Recovery Center (Partial Care)

JOB SUMMARY: Provide services within a day treatment setting to clients diagnosed with mental illness. Provide direct service to clients individually, in groups, in community integration activities, and in the therapeutic milieu. Maintain clinical records in compliance with all regulatory agencies and VHS policies & procedures. Interface with other provider agencies and services as needed.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Provide direct service to program participants individually, in groups, in family, and in the therapeutic milieu

2. Provide case management services, including interfacing with other provider agencies and services.

3. Provide crisis prevention and intervention as needed.

4. Participate in treatment planning with clients, inter-disciplinary team members both within and outside the agency, and physicians.

5. Provide documentation, including treatment plans, progress notes and attendance sheets according to agency standards.

6. Participate in staff meetings, team meetings, training's, in-services, supervisory sessions, and performance improvement activities.

7. Maintain standards required by VHS.

8. Provide advocacy and education regarding self-advocacy for clients.

9. Drive van as needed.

10. Adhere to requirements in General Skills Evaluation.

11. Will perform other duties and responsibilities as requested by the program director and/or VHS management. Without giving up the right to the grievance process.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION: A bachelor's degree in psychosocial rehabilitation or mental health services, or related life or work experience. CADC or LCADC

EXPERIENCE/KNOWLEDGE: None

OTHER: A current valid driver's license.

Physical: Visual and auditory acuity sufficient to evaluate, treat, and monitor client needs, recognize clients, and maintain accurate records. Proficient use of computer for medical records documentation and fine motor skills for legible written documentation . Ability to work required hours and fulfill job requirements..
