MEP Draftsman

Job Summary:

The MEP Draftsman will be responsible for preparing accurate and detailed electrical and MEP drawings, layouts, and schematics for infrastructure projects such as warehouse, industrial factory, cement,crusher, street light and MEP services on roads, bridges and utility networks. The role includes collaboration with engineers and other design professionals to ensure compliance with design standards, safety codes, and client specifications.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare electrical shop drawings, layouts, and as-built drawings using AutoCAD and other drafting software.
• Draft cable routing, lighting systems, grounding, earthing, duct bank layouts, and utility coordination for infrastructure projects.
• Collaborate with electrical engineers to develop detailed plans for power distribution, street lighting and lightening protection.
• Ensure compliance with relevant codes (e.g.,Etihad water electricity (EWE), NEC, IEC, local municipal codes).
• Revise drawings based on mark-ups, site changes, or engineering instructions.
• Maintain drawing logs, revision records, and documentation control.
• Coordinate with civil, mechanical, and other engineering disciplines for drawing integration.
• Conduct site visits when necessary to verify existing conditions or resolve design issues.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• Diploma or BE in Electrical Engineering, Drafting, or related field.
• Minimum 3–5 years of experience as an electrical draftsman, preferably in infrastructure or MEP projects.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD
• Familiarity with software like MicroStation, Revit (BIM knowledge is an advantage).
• Understanding of electrical systems for infrastructure (lighting, low voltage, power distribution).
• Knowledge of local and international standards and codes
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience on large-scale infrastructure or public works projects.
• Exposure to utility authority requirements (e.g., Etihad Water Electrcity (EWE).)
• Basic knowledge of civil or structural drawings for coordination purposes.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet project deadlines.
