Job Summary
The MEP Electrical & Plumbing Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates, material take-offs, and tender pricing for electrical and plumbing works in building projects. The role supports tendering, budgeting, and cost control activities in coordination with engineers, procurement, and project teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for electrical and plumbing systems based on drawings, specifications, and BOQs
- Perform quantity take-offs for electrical (power, lighting, ELV) and plumbing (water supply, drainage, sanitary) works
- Analyze tender documents, drawings, and technical specifications
- Request and evaluate quotations from suppliers and subcontractors
- Prepare comparison sheets and cost breakdowns
- Assist in preparing tender submissions, value engineering proposals, and budget estimates
- Coordinate with design, drafting, and site teams to clarify scope and quantities
- Update estimates based on design changes and tender addenda
- Support project teams during pre-contract and post-contract stages
- Maintain estimation databases, pricing records, and historical cost data
Requirements & Qualifications
- Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical / Mechanical Engineering or related field
- 3–7 years of experience as an MEP Estimator (Electrical & Plumbing) in UAE
- Strong knowledge of MEP systems, materials, and installation methods
- Proficient in AutoCAD, Excel, and estimation software
- Ability to read and interpret MEP drawings, BOQs, and specifications
- Familiar with international and local authority standards
- Strong analytical, numerical, and time-management skills
- Good communication and negotiation skills
Preferred Skills
- Experience in high-rise, commercial, residential, or infrastructure projects
- Knowledge of value engineering and cost optimization
- Experience with GCC / UAE tendering procedures
- Exposure to pre-contract and post-contract cost control
