Job Purpose:
The MEP Engineer is responsible for the planning, design, execution, and supervision of Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) systems in construction projects. The role ensures that all MEP installations comply with project specifications, standards, and safety regulations while coordinating with various stakeholders to achieve timely and cost-effective project delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review project specifications, drawings, and MEP requirements.
- Prepare and verify MEP designs, shop drawings, and material submittals.
- Coordinate with architects, structural engineers, and other disciplines to ensure design compatibility.
- Conduct load calculations, sizing of HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems using relevant codes and standards.
- Oversee installation, testing, and commissioning of MEP systems.
- Ensure all works comply with project specifications, approved drawings, and local regulations.
- Monitor site activities to ensure quality workmanship and adherence to project timelines.
- Conduct regular site inspections to identify and resolve technical issues proactively.
- Coordinate between subcontractors, consultants, and the main contractor to ensure smooth workflow.
- Attend project meetings to resolve design, construction, and technical challenges.
- Liaise with suppliers and vendors for material procurement and ensure timely deliveries.
- Prepare testing and commissioning plans for MEP systems.
- Supervise functional testing of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and fire-fighting systems.
- Ensure proper documentation of as-built drawings, O&M manuals, and handover reports.
- Follow and enforce health, safety, and environmental guidelines on site.
- Conduct inspections to ensure systems are safe and operational.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical / Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- Experience: 10 years of experience in MEP engineering within construction.
