Electrical Systems & Infrastructure
- Lead the design, specification, installation, testing & commissioning of electrical systems for new buildings/expansions (low-voltage power distribution, standby generators/inverters/UPS, motor control centres, lighting, earthing/grounding, lightning protection, ELV systems – CCTV, access control, PA, fire-alarm interfaces) in compliance with relevant Indian codes (IS/IEC/NBC etc).
- Review and approve electrical drawings, load calculations, single line diagrams, cable sizing, panel schedules, bus-bars, switchgear, transformer sizing, lighting levels (lux), power factor correction and distribution layouts.
- Conduct regular inspections, maintenance audits, condition assessments of existing electrical infrastructure, propose upgrades or replacement to ensure reliability and safety.
- Monitor and manage power consumption, energy efficiency initiatives (lighting retrofit, smart metering, optimisation of standby power usage), support the campus sustainability goals.
- Coordinate with mechanical, plumbing, civil teams and hostels/residential operations for integrated delivery of infrastructure works (ensuring services are routed, installed, maintained with minimal disruption).
Project & Maintenance Management
- Prepare scope, specifications and BOQs for electrical works for tenders, RFPs and vendor contracts; manage contractors/sub-contractors for timely, quality execution.
- Oversee site supervision of electrical works – ensure safety standards, adherence to drawings, quality checks, commissioning protocols, handover documentation (as-builts, O&M manuals, testing & commissioning reports).
- Develop preventive and predictive maintenance schedules for electrical systems, monitor downtime/failures, root-cause analysis and corrective action plans.
- Maintain records of electrical assets – inventory, lifecycle status, maintenance history, spares and critical components management.
- Assist budgeting and cost control for electrical services: estimate CAPEX for upgrades, evaluate lifecycle costs, propose cost-effective solutions.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (preferred), or equivalent; a Master’s or additional certification (energy management, building services) is a plus.
- Minimum 5 years (or more depending on seniority) of experience in electrical engineering for building services / infrastructure / campus/residential projects (preferably in educational institutions, large campuses, or institutional facilities).
- Proven experience in design, installation and maintenance of electrical systems (LV distribution, standby power, lighting, ELV) in multi-building complexes or campus environments.
- Strong technical knowledge of codes/standards (Indian & international) for electrical safety, earthing, lighting, power distribution, fire-alarm interfaces.
- Proficiency in engineering software/tools (AutoCAD/EDM, load-calculation tools, MS Office, project management tools).
- Excellent communication skills (English & Hindi) for coordination across departments, contractors, students/residents.
- Willingness to perform campus-based duties, respond to electrical emergencies, and liaise with hostel/residential operations as needed.
