MEP Planning Engineer

Job Purpose

To develop, monitor, and control project schedules for MEP works to ensure timely execution, resource optimization, and contractual compliance. The role supports project delivery through effective planning, progress monitoring, reporting, and coordination with internal teams, clients, and consultants.


Key Responsibilities

Project Planning & Scheduling

  • Review project scope, contract documents, and planning requirements issued by clients, consultants, and main contractors.
  • Prepare detailed baseline construction programmes for MEP works using Primavera P6 or MS Project.
  • Ensure project schedules align with contract milestones, procurement timelines, and construction priorities.

Progress Monitoring & Reporting

  • Track actual progress against planned schedules and identify potential delays or risks.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly progress reports, dashboards, S-curves, manpower histograms, and KPI reports.
  • Develop corrective action plans in coordination with project teams to maintain schedule targets.

Coordination & Communication

  • Liaise with project managers, engineers, procurement teams, and site staff to ensure programme compliance.
  • Coordinate with clients, consultants, and main contractors regarding schedule updates and project progress.
  • Ensure effective communication of planning requirements to site execution teams.

Change Management & Claims Support

  • Assess programme impacts due to variations, delays, or scope changes.
  • Update schedules accordingly and support preparation of Extension of Time (EOT) and delay claims.
  • Assist commercial teams in evaluating time-related contractual entitlements.

Resource & Cost Planning

  • Prepare manpower forecasts, equipment utilization plans, and cash flow projections.
  • Support cost control initiatives through schedule-driven planning insights.


Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering from a recognized institution.
  • Minimum 5–6 years of experience in MEP project planning within electro-mechanical contracting companies.
  • UAE or GCC project experience preferred, especially high-rise, commercial, healthcare, or large infrastructure projects.


Technical Skills

  • Proficiency in Primavera P6 (essential) and MS Project.
  • Strong knowledge of construction sequencing, MEP installation methods, and project lifecycle.
  • Experience in delay analysis techniques, schedule recovery planning, and claims documentation.
  • Advanced skills in MS Excel, reporting tools, and planning analytics.
