We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated MEP QAQC Engineer with experience in MEP coordination to join our dynamic team for a high-rise building project in Dubai. This role combines the critical responsibility of ensuring the quality of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems, with the coordination and integration of all MEP activities within the construction process. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with various project stakeholders.
QAQC Responsibilities:
Quality Assurance & Control
- Ensure that all MEP installations comply with project specifications, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct inspections and audits of MEP systems during various stages of construction to verify quality and conformity.
- Maintain and update detailed QAQC documentation, including checklists, test reports, and non-conformance reports (NCRs).
- Review and approve MEP-related shop drawings, material submittals, and method statements.
- Identify potential quality issues early and recommend corrective actions.
- Manage the MEP testing and commissioning process, ensuring all systems are tested and operational according to the schedule.
- Review contractor and subcontractor quality control processes and collaborate with them to ensure standards are maintained.
MEP Coordination Duties:
- Act as the primary point of contact for all MEP-related coordination between design, engineering, procurement, and construction teams.
- Coordinate MEP installation works with other trades (structural, architectural, etc.) to avoid conflicts and delays.
- Assist in the development and monitoring of the construction schedule, specifically for MEP systems.
- Conduct regular coordination meetings with subcontractors, vendors, and the design team to resolve technical and logistical issues.
- Provide support in managing project changes and ensuring the impact on MEP systems is understood and appropriately addressed.
- Work closely with the project management team to ensure that MEP-related aspects of the project remain within budget and schedule.
- Review and approve material procurement schedules, ensuring timely delivery of MEP materials to avoid project delays.
Documentation & Reporting:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records for all MEP work including inspections, tests, and approvals.
- Prepare weekly and monthly reports outlining QAQC and coordination progress, challenges, and solutions.
- Ensure that all project documentation is easily accessible and organized for future audits and inspections.
Health, Safety, & Environmental Compliance:
- Ensure MEP installation works comply with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Identify safety hazards and work with the safety officer to develop mitigation strategies for MEP work activities.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Civil Engineering (or equivalent).
- 5+ years of experience in MEP engineering, with at least 2 years in a QAQC or coordination role for large-scale construction projects, ideally in high-rise buildings.
- Strong knowledge of MEP systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and fire protection.
- Hands-on experience with construction quality management, including inspections, testing, and commissioning.
- Proven experience in coordinating between various stakeholders (contractors, designers, suppliers, etc.).
- Familiarity with industry standards, building codes, and regulations (e.g., local codes in Dubai, international standards such as ISO, NFPA).
- Proficiency in MS Office, AutoCAD, Revit, or similar design and project management software.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work under pressure.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to prepare reports and presentations.
