We are looking for an immediate joiner for a position as an MEP Quantity Surveyor who can manage the cost and financial aspects of Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) systems on construction projects, from pre-contract estimating to post-contract administration. Key responsibilities include preparing cost estimates and bills of quantities, managing tenders, administering contracts, and monitoring costs to ensure the project stays on budget. They collaborate with various stakeholders like engineers and contractors to ensure financial efficiency and compliance.

Key responsibilities

  • Pre-contract duties:
  • Review design documents for MEP systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, etc.).
  • Perform quantity take-offs and prepare detailed cost estimates and budgets.
  • Develop tender documentation, including Bills of Quantities (BOQs).
  • Participate in value engineering to find cost-effective solutions.
  • Post-contract duties:
  • Evaluate and analyze contractor bids and sub-contractor submissions.
  • Administer contracts, manage variations, and assess claims.
  • Certify interim valuations and contractor payments.
  • Monitor project costs, cash flow, and report on budget performance.
  • Resolve financial disputes with contractors.
  • Collaboration and reporting:
  • Liaise with design teams, project managers, clients, and contractors.
  • Prepare and present regular cost reports and financial advice to senior management and clients.
  • Ensure compliance with contracts and project requirements.

Required skills and experience

  • A strong understanding of MEP systems is essential.
  • Experience with pre- and post-contract stages is often required.
  • Proficiency with cost management software and standard measurement methods is necessary.
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills are vital for collaborating with different parties.
  • Relevant qualifications, such as a degree in quantity surveying or a related field and at least minimum of 2 years’ experience (UAE), are typically required.
