The
MEP Quantity Surveyor (QS) Engineer
manages quantity surveying, measurement, and cost control activities for
MEP works
in accordance with project specifications, contract requirements (including FIDIC where applicable), and Saudi project commercial practices. The role ensures accurate BOQs/estimates, controlled variations, and timely commercial reporting for cost and payment processes.
Key Responsibilities:

Prepare
BOQs, cost estimates, and tender documents
for MEP packages.

Perform
quantity take-off / measurement
from drawings.
-
Review drawings and technical specifications to ensure
accurate measurement basis
and reduced rework.

Evaluate
subcontractor quotations
and prepare
comparison/award recommendations
.

Monitor project costs, budgets, and expenditure versus plan.

Prepare and assess
variations
,
claims
, and
change orders
, including supporting measurements and documentation.

Support
contract administration
tasks, ensuring compliance with contractual clauses and procedures.

Conduct
site visits
to verify quantities, progress, and measurements.

Prepare
interim payment applications
(progress/payment submissions) and support
final accounts/close-out
.

Coordinate with engineering, procurement, and site teams to align scope, Quantities, and commercial submissions.

Maintain accurate records for all commercial activities, including BOQ backups, measurement sheets, correspondence, and logs.
Technical Skills:

Strong knowledge of
MEP systems
(MEP drawings: HVAC, plumbing, firefighting, electrical depending on project scope).

Experience in MEP estimation, BOQs, and cost control.

Familiarity with FIDIC contracts (preferred) and contract measurement/payment concepts.

Proficiency in MS Excel (required) and QS software (AutoCad,PlanSwift).

Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.

Strong understanding of measurement rules and supporting documentation requirements.
