MEP Senior Planning Engineer
Job Purpose
The MEP Senior Planning Engineer is responsible for developing, monitoring, and controlling project schedules for Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) works. The role ensures that project timelines are achieved in line with contractual requirements, resources are properly allocated, and project milestones are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Project Planning & Scheduling
- Develop baseline programs, detailed schedules, and resource allocation plans for MEP works.
- Integrate MEP schedules with civil, structural, and architectural works for overall project coordination.
- Establish critical paths and monitor project progress against milestones.
- Monitoring & Reporting
- Track daily/weekly/monthly progress and prepare progress reports.
- Identify potential delays, analyze risks, and recommend mitigation measures.
- Provide updates to project management, consultants, and clients on schedule status.
- Coordination
- Coordinate with project managers, engineers, subcontractors, and consultants to align on project timelines.
- Liaise with procurement and contracts teams to ensure timely availability of materials and subcontractor mobilization.
- Assist in planning commissioning and handover activities.
- Cost & Resource Management
- Support resource loading, manpower forecasting, and productivity tracking.
- Ensure alignment of project cost and time objectives.
- Monitor subcontractor schedules to ensure compliance with the overall project program.
- Claims & Extensions of Time (EOT)
- Prepare delay analysis reports and support claims for EOT.
- Document all schedule impacts due to variations, design changes, or unforeseen events.
- Compliance & Quality
- Ensure planning activities comply with contractual obligations, company standards, and project specifications.
- Support risk management and quality assurance processes.
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical / Electrical Engineering or related field.
- Minimum 8–12 years of experience in planning, with at least 5 years in MEP projects (high-rise buildings, infrastructure, or industrial projects preferred).
- Proficiency in Primavera P6, MS Project, and MS Office Suite.
- Strong knowledge of MEP systems, construction sequencing, and interfaces.
- Experience in preparing and defending EOT and delay claims.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
