MEP Technical Director

1. Role Purpose

The MEP Technical Director is a hands-on design leader responsible for managing and developing the Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing disciplines. This role combines technical expertise, BIM knowledge, and design innovation to deliver coordinated, compliant, and high-quality engineering designs aligned with Buruoj’s QA/QC and BIM systems.

2. Key Responsibilities

Design Leadership & Technical Oversight

• Lead and participate directly in concept and detailed design for MEP systems.

• Review and validate all design drawings and calculations for accuracy and compliance.

• Ensure optimal design integration between architecture, structure, and MEP systems.

• Lead QA/QC reviews and ensure final deliverables meet authority and project requirements.

Department Management & Coordination

• Manage the MEP department, allocate resources, and mentor team members.

• Coordinate internally with Architecture, Structure, and BIM departments for full project alignment.

• Liaise with clients, consultants, and authorities for MEP-related matters.

• Monitor project progress and ensure on-time delivery of MEP submissions.

BIM Integration & Digital Design

• Lead MEP BIM implementation across projects and ensure coordination in Autodesk Collaborate Pro.

• Review and develop MEP models in Revit, ensuring correct LOD (200–400) for each design stage.

• Maintain MEP Revit families, templates, and digital libraries.

• Promote digital workflows and design automation for improved efficiency.

3. Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (Master’s preferred).

• Minimum 15 years of MEP design experience, including at least 5 years in a director or lead engineer role.

• Hands-on capability in preparing and reviewing MEP design.

• Strong knowledge of SBC, ASHRAE, NFPA, SASO, SEC, and NWC standards.

• Advanced proficiency in Revit, Navisworks, and Autodesk BIM Collaborate Pro.

• Proven experience leading BIM-integrated workflows.

• Saudi Council of Engineers registration required.

• Fluent in English (Arabic is a plus).
