This position is located at Headquarters (Quantico, VA). Candidates selected for this position will serve as a Merchandise Data Analyst within the Merchandising Unit.

Major Duties

Serves as primary analytical advisor to Branch Head Merchandising. Responsible for evaluating, forecasting, and optimizing merchandise performance for the MCCS retail program. The role provides analytical insight, strategic recommendations, and decision support related to assortment planning, pricing, inventory productivity, sales, advertising, and digital marketing performance. The position operates with independence and exercises judgment influencing merchandising strategies and financial outcomes.

Conducts complex merchandise data analyses of sales, margin, inventory turnover, sell-through, and markdown effectiveness across multiple product categories and store locations. Develop recommendations with significant financial impact. Identify trends, risks, and opportunities affecting merchandise productivity and profitability at enterprise, district, and store levels.

Provide scenario analysis and recommendations related to store¿s merchandise space and allocation, assortment changes, pricing strategies, promotional planning, and vendor negotiations.

Provide guidance and analytical support to Merchandising team managers and buyers to enhance decision-making capability. Partners with buying, planning and replenishment teams improve merchandise profitability across the enterprise.

Performs retail advertising and digital marketing analytics and works closely with Advertising and Marketing Teams to plan campaigns to optimize sales, profitability, and customer satisfaction.

Prepare executive-level reports, dashboards, and presentations translating complex data into actionable insights. Provide administrative support to Branch Head Merchandising. Evaluate store clustering and localized assortments to support market-specific merchandising strategies. Work closely and collaboratively with Merchandising, Marketing, Advertising, Planning, Supply Chain, Finance, and Store Operations to ensure alignment between analytical findings and execution.

Support new store openings, remodels, and category resets through data-driven assortment and inventory recommendations. Recommend enhancements to analytics tools, reporting processes, and business intelligence platforms. May participate in system implementations, upgrades, or analytical process redesigns.

Manages the administration of budgets for Division. Works collaboratively with Division stakeholders to accurately forecast and plan revenue and expenses to ensure resources are optimized and the budget is accurate. Assignments typically involve unclear or evolving parameters requiring interpretation of policy, business objectives, and market conditions.

Employ varied strategies to develop engaging presentations and communicate ideas clearly. Prepares correspondence, briefs, action documents, routing sheets, point papers, slide presentations and training sessions Take action to solve problems quickly, demonstrating creative problem-solving skills. Alerts the Branch Head Merchandising, or proper point of contact for help when problems arise.

Provides World Class Customer Service with an emphasis on courtesy. Assists customers and communicates positively in a friendly manner. Take action to solve problems quickly. Alerts the higher-level supervisor, or proper point of contact for help when problems arise. Adheres to safety regulations and standards. Promptly reports any observed workplace hazards, and any injury, occupational illness, and/or property damage resulting from workplace mishaps to the immediate supervisor. Adheres to established standards of actively supporting the principles of the EEO program and prevention of sexual harassment.

May work a fluctuating work schedule to complete work assignments outside of the typical work week and work hours.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

This is a white-collar position where occasional lifting up to 20 lbs may be required.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Business, Merchandising, Data Analytics or a related field appropriate to the position of work AND at least one year of experience in data analytics or retail merchandising, planning or replenishment, OR an appropriate combination of education and experience that demonstrates possession of knowledge and skill equivalent to that gained in the above.

Demonstrate proficiency skills in data management software, data analysis, and skill to analyze complex datasets into clear and actionable insights for senior managers and executive audiences.

Expert knowledge with Microsoft excel and intermediate working knowledge of Microsoft Office software including Outlook, Teams, Word, and Power Point.

Ability to become familiar and comply with DoW, Department of the Navy, and Marine Corps directives, policies, and regulations covering retail operations.
