Mid-Central Door Company, a division of American Door Works, is a leader in supplying hollow metal doors and frames, commercial wood doors, and architectural hardware in Central Minnesota. Mid-Central Door and its parent company have paid its employees over $5 million from the company incentive program over the past 5 years! We are currently looking for a candidate to join our company as a Metal Fabricator due to continued growth in our industry. Opportunity for growth with this position and within our companies.

The Metal Fabricator will build various sizes of metal frames per customer specification by assembling & welding them together. We mostly use 16-gauge metal, and it is primarily cold rolled, we also use some galvanized metal from time-to-time. This position normally works 6 am to 3:30 pm Monday-Thursday, then 4 hours on Friday morning during the day shift. There is potential for overtime without having to work weekends or nights. We work in an AIR-CONDITIONED facility so don’t worry about working in the heat in the summer!

Some duties include but are not limited to:

• The fabricator will need to be able to assemble and weld frame(s) per customer order.
• Use grinder to smooth the weld so that it appears to be one piece.
• Prime finished door frame to meet company and customer standards.
• Read blueprints, work orders, or production schedules to determine product or job instructions or specifications.
• Take directions from other workers regarding set-up and fabrication.
• Work directly with Lead Fabricator for direct instructions, processes, and all work assignments.
• Clean, lubricate, maintain, and adjust equipment to maintain efficient operation, using air hoses, cleaning fluids, and hand tools.
• Performs all other duties as assigned or required by the supervisor/customer.

If you have a history of inconsistent attendance, frequent job changes, a tendency to wait for direction rather than take initiative, and limited mechanical aptitude or skills, this position may not be the right fit for you.

Ideal candidates would have experience in Industrial Art or a related background. Should have previous welding and/or metal fabrication experience, but not required. Must be mechanically inclined and have worked in building or manufacturing environment trades. Knowledge of building operations, including all safety requirements. Must have a strong mechanical background, problem solving, and good at troubleshooting. This person needs to have good work values, be able to work independently, be dependable, honest, and ethical. This position requires regular standing on hard surfaces for extended periods of time. Also, regularly bending and lifting up to 125 pounds or more on a frequent basis. Must have a current & valid MN driver’s license and be able to obtain a DOT health card to drive company vehicles. Must be able to pass company drug test (including cannabis) and criminal background checks.
