MI Healthy Climate Fellows:
Join the MI Healthy Climate Fellows (MHC Fellows) and make a lasting impact on Michigan's carbon-neutral future! The MHC Fellows program accelerates Michigan's climate action through capacity building and leadership development. Fellows serve across the state to advance the MI Healthy Climate Plan's (MHCP) goal of achieving carbon neutrality by 2050. The plan, unveiled by Governor Gretchen Whitmer in April 2022, aims to avert the worst impacts of the climate crisis; create good-paying jobs; position Michigan as a climate action leader; and build a healthier and more prosperous, equitable, and sustainable Michigan for all Michiganders.

About the Host Partner:
The Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity (LEO) (https://www.michigan.gov/leo/about) is a principal department of the State of Michigan that oversees various programs aimed at promoting economic growth and supporting job seekers and businesses. It focuses on areas such as workforce development, unemployment insurance, affordable housing, labor relations, and tourism. The department was created to enhance the state's economic development an ensure that all individuals and communities have access to opportunities for success.

LEO's mission is to expand economic opportunity and prosperity for all. LEO's vision is to make Michigan a place where all PEOPLE, BUSINESS AND COMMUNITIES have the economic means and personal freedoms to reach their full potential. LEO's values or guiding principles include: 1) commitment to equity, 2) people-centered approach, 3) collaboration to achieve unity of purpose and greater success, and 4) data-and evidence-based promotion of opportunity.

The Community & Worker Economic Transition Office, (https://www.michigan.gov/leo/bureaus-agencies/economic-transition) housed within LEO, leads efforts to develop a statewide plan for upcoming advancements into high-tech EV manufacturing and clean energy opportunities. The office builds a more resilient state workforce by helping workers access high-quality jobs and providing employers with proactive direction to funding and resources to retool their equipment and train their employees to keep up with the evolving demand for electric vehicles and clean energy technologies.
