This is an expedited recruitment process, open for applications from internal and internal-equivalent candidates only.

Responsibilities

Under the general guidance of the Head of Office (CAS) and the direct supervision of the MHPSS Programme Manager,thesuccessfulcandidatewillberesponsibleforperformingthefollowing functions andresponsibilities:

  • Provide admin and clerical support to qualified technicians when conducting psychological assessments and/or tests for diagnostic purposes forchildren.
  • Assist qualified technicians in designing and conducting relevant socio-relational, sports and play, creative and arts-based activities for children and adolescents of different age and gender groups, in coordination with the MHPSS and Community Mobilisation Expert.
  • Participate in training family members on how to assist their child in a supportivemanner.
  • Assist in the coordinations between other child health experts, like child protection workers, pediatricians and community engagement staff, Qatar Red Crecent (QRC) volunteers , who facilitate and support the children’s psychologicaldevelopment.
  • Assist in the organization of educational programs and training sessions to inform adolescents or teenagers about the repercussions of high-risk behaviors and ways to adjust tothem.
  • ProvideadminandclericalsupporttoMHPSSserviceswhenaddressingissuessuchasdepression, bullying, various mental health issues and learning difficulties inchildren.
  • Maintainfileswithcompletedocumentationandrecordsofassessmentsandtreatmentsaccording to in-house policies.
  • Assist qualified technicians to identify and refer children in need of specialized attention to a childrenpsychiatrist.
  • Assist in reporting all services provided in SYNC; including follow-up and new cases, as well as visibility materials of all MHPSS activities conducted atCAS.
  • AssisttoorganizecapacitybuildingactivitiesforIOMstaff,CASfocalpoints,QRCandCommunity volunteers on Children psychosocial support related issues through workshops andtrainings.
  • Promote and maintain confidentiality and the right to privacy is maintained regarding beneficiary and projectinformation.
  • Help in the continuous monitoring and evaluation of theprogramme.
  • Provide admin and clerical assistance to other healthcare providers when evaluating the medical & physical condition of children atCAS.
  • Perform such other duties as may beassigned.

Qualifications

Education

  • University or Bachelor’s Degree in clinical psychology, counselling psychology, or any other relevantfieldwiththreeyearsofrelevantprofessionalexperiencefromanaccreditedacademic institution.
  • High school degree with at least five years of relevant professionalexperience.
  • Professionalaccreditationfromarecognizedpsychologicalorcounsellingassociation-societyis advantageous.

Experience

  • At least two years experience in MHPSSprogramming.
  • Proven work experience as a Child Psychologist or similarrole.
  • Knowledgeofdifferenttherapeuticmethodsandtheabilitytoswitchbetweendifferent approaches to meet each child’s needs.
  • Excellent knowledge and skills in MHPSS programming, resilience, psychosocial support, community-based activities, development and mobilization, especially in an emergencycontext.
  • Experience working with at-risk communitymembers.
  • Experience in liaising with governmental and diplomatic authorities and stakeholders, working in international organizations, non-government or governmentinstitutions/organization.

Skills

  • Must be approachable and empathic so children will be comfortable working withyou.
  • Strong organizational, facilitation, communication, writing and presentationsskills.
  • Proficient in a Microsoft Office environment and office software packages; Data entry (database management)skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to draft and prepare clear and concise formal correspondence and project reports.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills in a multi-culturalsetting;
  • Strong work ethics and commitment to humanitarianprinciples.

Notes

This vacancy is only open to current and former IOM staff members who were separated in the last 12 months due to the structural adjustment process.
