Who We Are:
Mental Health Support Services (MHSS) is the provider of mental health, developmental disabilities, and substance use disorder services for children and adults in Chesterfield County. We are seeking a Services Supervisor to join the Psychiatric Rehabilitation Services team! As a Services Supervisor you will work with staff and provide a diverse array of supports, while learning about every aspect of the mental health system!
Minimum Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in related field (master's degree in counseling, social work or a related field preferred); three years of increasingly responsible job-related experience to include two years of supervisory experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), or license eligible preferred; experience providing community mental health services to adults with serious mental illness preferred; experience working with the State Hospital system and DBHDS stakeholders preferred; experience providing clinical and administrative supervision preferred; experience with an electronic health record (EHR) preferred.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Considerable knowledge of theories, principles and practices of community behavioral, prevention and/or ID programming; of principles and techniques of prevention, treatment and rehabilitation of persons with behavioral health disorders; of relevant mental health laws. Ability to plan and organize a behavioral health project and/or components of a program; to interpret and apply county, state and federal regulations, policies and guidelines related to the assigned program; to communicate effectively orally and in writing; to operate a personal computer and related software and other standard office equipment; to develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external customers; to supervise staff. Knowledge of the continuum of mental health care services available to residents of Chesterfield County to include Medicaid-billable services preferred; knowledge of Collaborative Discharge Protocol guiding State Hospital Discharges and the Not Guilty by Reason of Insanity (NGRI) Conditional Release Process preferred; proficiency in Microsoft Office preferred; knowledge of the mental health system, diagnosis and treatment of mental illness and substance abuse, community resources, supervision, program development, and service models preferred; skills in assessing, diagnosing and formulating treatment goals and implementation of services for individuals with serious mental illness preferred; skills in supervising and leading mental health professionals preferred; skills in communication and conflict resolution preferred; ability to obtain, track, monitor and report on various forms of data preferred.
Additional Requirements:
Current valid driver’s license and good driving record required. Based on the Virginia DMV point system, record must not reflect a total of six or more demerit points within the preceding twenty-four months, or one major violation of six demerit points with the preceding thirty-six months. Out of state driving records must be obtained by applicant and presented at time of interview. Records must reflect at least three years of history and be dated within thirty days of interview date.
Pre-employment drug testing, FBI criminal background check and education/degree verification required.
