Position Summary:


The Microbiology Technician conducts microbiological and laboratory analyses, ensuring compliance with Good Laboratory Practices (GLP). Responsibilities include calibrations, verifications, sample preparation and tracking, out-of-specification (OOS) investigations, and continuous improvement initiatives. The role requires effective workload planning and collaboration with laboratory and production teams to deliver timely, high-quality results. The technician also supports quality operations on the manufacturing floor.


Schedule: Sunday - Thursday 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. MST, or Tuesday - Saturday 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.


Key Job Duties:

  • Perform microbiological and physical analyses of raw, in-process, and finished materials (GMP environment)
  • Maintain and restock laboratory supplies
  • Conduct stability testing and prepare media
  • Record and archive analytical results (paper/electronic)
  • Monitor cold storage, incubators, and stability chambers; escalate issues as needed
  • Manage environmental monitoring programs and documentation (GMP/GLP)
  • Maintain a clean, organized laboratory (inventory control, sanitation)
  • Review and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
  • Coordinate sample submissions to internal and third-party labs
  • Support raw material sampling and release documentation
  • Assist with quality systems monitoring (ATP/allergen, scale verifications, temperature monitoring, production line clearance)
  • Undertake additional duties or special projects assigned.
  • Proactively identify and suggest process improvements

  • Collaboration and communication within cross-functional teams
  • Advanced computer proficiency (Microsoft Office Suite; ERP/QMS systems)
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Experience with quality tools (five-why analysis, flow charts, check sheets)
  • Basic equipment maintenance and troubleshooting skills
  • Adaptability to new systems and processes
  • Must be able to work safely in laboratory and manufacturing environments and ensure the safety of others.
  • Must be comfortable around heavy equipment and be able to lift 40 lbs.
  • Able to adhere to strict confidentiality policies and procedures.
  • Ability to read, write, and converse in the English language.
  • Must follow GMP/GLP, PPE, and company safety policies in the performance of job duties.
  • Must maintain good attendance.
  • Able to pass a background check.

Work Experience and Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in microbiology/biology, or other related science, or 10+ years of progressive experience related to microbiology analysis
  • Minimum 1 year experience in GMP microbiology laboratory
