The purpose of this classification is to identify qualified undergraduate students or graduate students who have educational interests and abilities that can be effectively utilized in government service.
The Georgia County Internship Program (GCIP) is a 200 hour paid summer internship program opportunity provided in partnership with the Association County Commissioners of Georgia Civic Affairs Foundation, Inc. This position will end when the grant runs out.
The internship will start on June 8th and last for 7 weeks or 200 hours. This position does not qualify for benefits.
Conduct research on microgrid technology, including distributed energy resources, energy storage systems, and grid integration.
Review and analyze industry reports, academic publications, and case studies related to microgrid implementation and sustainability initiatives.
Collaborate with Facilities Management to assess building energy usage and identify integration and efficiency opportunities.
Collect, organize, and analyze data to assess building energy usage and identify integration and efficiency opportunities.
Evaluate operational, financial, and sustainability impacts of implementing a microgrid generator for Fleet operations and the broader Cobb County community.
Prepare clear and concise reports summarizing research findings and recommendations.
Develop and deliver a professional presentation of findings to Fleet Management leadership.
Support sustainability initiatives by identifying strategies that enhance energy resilience, efficiency, and community preparedness.
Perform other related research and analytical tasks as assigned in support of the County’s long-term sustainability goals.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Must be an undergraduate, or graduate student, or must have graduated within the last six months. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Preferred QualificationsTasks require the ability to exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work, but which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of light weight (5-10 pounds). Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or workstation.
Sensory Requirements
Some tasks require the ability to communicate orally.
Environmental Factors
Essential functions are regularly performed without exposure to adverse environmental conditions.
