Position Summary

The PM Dispatcher – Microtransit is responsible for managing evening and late-service microtransit operations using the SPARE platform. This role ensures safe, efficient, and customer-focused service delivery by monitoring real-time vehicle performance, coordinating Operators, responding to service disruptions, and supporting rider communications.

As a critical operational role during peak variability hours, the PM Dispatcher helps maintain service reliability, manage trip adjustments, and ensure customers and Operators are supported throughout the service window.

The PM Dispatcher reports to the Operations Supervisor / Operations Manager

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Previous dispatch, transportation, customer service, or call-center experience preferred.
  • Experience in transit, microtransit, paratransit, or transportation operations strongly preferred.

Essential Functions / Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor active microtransit service using the SPARE dispatch platform.
  • Track trip progress, vehicle locations, pick-ups, drop-offs, late trips, no-shows, and missed trips.
  • Manage real-time service adjustments, including reassigning trips or runs as necessary.
  • Communicate directly with Operators via radio, tablet messaging, or phone.
  • Check in and support PM Operators throughout the shift.
  • Address Operator questions related to trips, routing, schedule changes, or customer concerns.
  • Coordinate vehicle change-outs, road calls, and service interruptions in collaboration with Supervisors and Maintenance.
  • Ensure Operators follow proper procedures, safety protocols, and SPARE workflows.
  • Respond to rider inquiries, concerns, and service disruptions professionally and empathetically.
  • Provide customers with accurate trip information and status updates.
  • Escalate complex customer situations to Supervisors or Management when appropriate.
  • Support ADA-compliant service delivery and proper service language.
  • Accurately document callouts, late trips, no-shows, incidents, and service changes in SPARE and internal communication tools.
  • Maintain clear shift notes and handoff documentation for AM Dispatch or Operations leadership.
  • Utilize internal communication platforms (e.g., Teams, email) to relay service updates and issues.
  • Support RATP Dev USA’s safety culture by identifying and reporting unsafe conditions or behaviors.
  • Assist with incident and accident reporting following established procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with VoTran policies, Operations Manual, and ADA requirements.
  • Monitor service through end-of-day operations and vehicle returns.
  • Ensure all trips are properly closed out in SPARE.
  • Prepare accurate shift summaries and transition notes for the next operational day.
  • Perform other related tasks as assigned in support of microtransit operations.

Knowledge

  • Understanding of demand-response or microtransit service models.
  • Familiarity with dispatch operations and real-time service management.
  • Knowledge of ADA service requirements preferred.
  • SPARE platform experience preferred (or willingness to learn).

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and make decisions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Basic computer proficiency, including tablets and Microsoft applications.
  • Professional customer service and conflict-resolution skills.

  • Ability to work evening and late shifts, including weekends and holidays.
  • Ability to manage real-time operational pressure with professionalism.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods while using multiple computer systems.
  • Ability to communicate clearly in a busy dispatch environment.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
