Job Overview

Duties

• Design and implement comprehensive lesson plans aligned with curriculum standards, incorporating creative writing, literacy education, and language arts principles
• Develop engaging instructional materials that incorporate learning technology and support diverse learning styles
• Foster a positive classroom environment through effective classroom management and behavior management strategies
• Assess student progress regularly using standardized testing, formative assessments, and project-based evaluations
• Provide individualized tutoring and academic advising to support students’ unique needs and learning goals
• Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum development, instructional design, and school-wide initiatives
• Mentor students in journalism, research projects, and library services to enhance their research skills and critical thinking abilities

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in English, Education, Linguistics, or a related field; higher education teaching experience preferred
• Proven classroom experience teaching middle school students with strong classroom management skills
• Knowledge of AP style, Chicago Manual of Style, proofreading techniques, and copy editing practices
• Familiarity with learning technology tools and instructional design methodologies
• Experience in curriculum development for literacy education, creative writing, and standardized testing preparation
• Ability to work effectively with students from diverse backgrounds, including those requiring special education or Montessori approaches
• Excellent communication skills paired with organizational skills for lesson planning and instructional delivery
• Demonstrated mentoring abilities in academic advising or extracurricular activities such as journalism or creative writing projects
• Strong research skills complemented by experience in library services or education administration

Pay: $41,156.13 - $51,854.70 per year
