Overview
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Middle School Science Teacher to inspire curiosity and foster a love for science among young learners. This role offers an exciting opportunity to design engaging lessons, facilitate hands-on experiments, and support students’ academic growth in a dynamic educational environment. This includes planning and implementing hands-on laboratory experiences, and integrating technology such as digital labs and simulations.
We are a small private school in Central Florida with well behaved students who are truly present to learn.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement comprehensive science curricula aligned with educational standards, incorporating innovative instructional strategies and learning technology tools.
- Prepare and deliver engaging lessons covering diverse topics such as biology, chemistry, physics, and earth sciences, including specialized areas like organic chemistry, biochemistry, genetics, microbiology, molecular biology, and differential equations.
- Conduct laboratory experiments and dissections safely while guiding students through scientific research methods and laboratory experiences.
- Assess student progress through standardized testing, formative assessments, and project-based evaluations; provide constructive feedback to support continuous improvement.
- Manage classroom behavior effectively to create a positive learning environment that encourages participation and curiosity.
- Mentor students individually or in small groups through tutoring sessions or academic advising to enhance understanding of complex concepts like trigonometry, algebra, geometry, calculus, discrete math, and proofing skills.
- Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum development, instructional design, and integrating new research findings into classroom activities.
- Maintain accurate records of student performance and communicate progress regularly with parents or guardians.
- Participate in professional development opportunities related to science education, research laboratory techniques, special education needs, instructional methods or other relevant pedagogical approaches.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Science Education or a related field; advanced degrees preferred.
- Proven classroom experience teaching middle school science with a focus on engaging diverse learners.
- Strong knowledge of scientific disciplines including cell biology, genetics, microbiology, molecular biology, organic chemistry, biochemistry, physics (including calculus), mathematics (algebra, geometry), and discrete math.
- Laboratory experience with dissection techniques and research laboratory practices.
- Familiarity with learning technology platforms and instructional design for effective lesson planning.
- Excellent communication skills for working with students of varying abilities as well as collaborating with staff and parents.
- Ability to manage classroom behavior effectively while fostering an inclusive environment that supports special education needs when applicable.
- Experience with standardized testing procedures and curriculum development is highly desirable.

Pay: $27.00 - $33.00 per hour
