Job Summary
We are seeking a passionate and dynamic Middle School Writing Teacher to inspire and cultivate strong writing skills among young learners. In this role, you will design engaging curricula, foster a love for creative and analytical writing, and support students in developing their voice and clarity. Duties
- Develop comprehensive lesson plans aligned with curriculum standards, incorporating creative writing, journalism, and literacy education techniques
- Implement innovative instructional strategies utilizing learning technology to enhance student engagement and understanding
- Provide clear instruction on AP style, Chicago Manual of Style, and proofreading to elevate students’ writing quality
- Mentor students individually and in groups, offering constructive feedback to improve their writing skills and critical thinking
- Design assessments, including standardized testing preparation, to evaluate student progress and tailor instruction accordingly
- Foster a positive classroom environment through effective classroom management and behavior management techniques
- Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum development, instructional design, and educational best practices to ensure cohesive learning experiences
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, English, Linguistics, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred
- Proven classroom experience teaching middle school students with a focus on writing or literacy education
- Strong knowledge of curriculum development, instructional design, and assessment strategies
- Expertise in AP style, Chicago Manual of Style, copy editing, proofreading, and research methods
- Experience working with diverse learners, including those requiring special education accommodations or Montessori methodologies
- Excellent communication skills paired with organizational skills for lesson planning and classroom management
- Familiarity with learning technology platforms, library services, and educational administration tools
- Demonstrated ability to mentor students effectively while fostering creativity in writing projects such as creative writing and journalism assignments
