Your future duties and responsibilities

Middleware L2 Administrator / Engineer (Apache, Tomcat, IIS)
Location: Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, Pune.
Employment Type: Full Time

Role Overview:

The Middleware L2 Administrator is responsible for advanced management, troubleshooting, and optimization of middleware platforms including Apache HTTP Server, Tomcat Application Server, and Microsoft IIS. This role requires deep expertise in middleware technologies, strong problem‑solving skills, and the ability to resolve complex issues independently while supporting enterprise‑scale deployments.
Key Responsibilities
  • Provide L2 support for escalated incidents across Apache, Tomcat, and IIS environments.
  • Manage and maintain middleware servers including installation, configuration, patching, and upgrades.
  • Optimize application hosting environments for performance, scalability, and security.
  • Troubleshoot complex issues related to web servers, application servers, and integrations.
  • Implement SSL/TLS certificates, load balancing, and reverse proxy configurations.
  • Conduct performance tuning, capacity planning, and monitoring of middleware platforms.
  • Automate routine tasks using PowerShell, Bash, Python, or Ansible.
  • Collaborate with application development, infrastructure, and security teams to ensure seamless delivery of middleware services.
  • Lead root cause analysis for critical incidents and document resolutions.
  • Maintain knowledge base and documentation for configurations, processes, and troubleshooting guides.

Required qualifications to be successful in this role

  • 6–8 years of experience in middleware administration with strong L3 expertise.
  • Hands‑on experience with Apache HTTP Server, Tomcat Application Server, and Microsoft IIS.
  • Strong knowledge of web/application server architecture, clustering, and high availability setups.
  • Expertise in security hardening, SSL/TLS, authentication, and authorization mechanisms.
  • Experience with Windows Server and Linux environments.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP) for middleware deployments.
  • Proficiency in scripting and automation (PowerShell, Bash, Python, Ansible).
  • Solid understanding of networking concepts, firewalls, and load balancers.
  • Ability to lead critical incident resolution and mentor junior administrators.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Certifications: MCSE (Windows Server), Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE), Oracle Certified Professional (Java EE).
  • Experience with containerized middleware deployments (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Exposure to monitoring tools (Nagios, Splunk, AppDynamics, Dynatrace).
  • Knowledge of ITIL processes for incident, problem, and change management.
