MIG Welder

SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Prepare & cut required shapes and weld according to work instructions and samples provided.

Inspection, diagnosing problems and follow through appropriate checking / testing.

Use grinders to smooth and clean as required, prior to and after welding.

Effectively operate welding units and equipment to fabricate, repair, maintain and install metal items equipment, appliances, apparatus, and fixtures etc.

Inspect work and fill / repair as necessary.

Assemble component parts using appropriate hand / small power tools.

Identify hazards, defects and the need for adjustment or repair to ensure compliance with applicable codes, law, working practices, health, and safety.

Clean and maintain all equipment and tools and maintain a clean working area, adhere to the 6S Standards.

Help minimize downtime and waste.

Communicate and maintain a good relationship with team members, contractors / suppliers / customers and other stakeholders as required.

Maintain accurate records / documentation associated with your work.

Immediately report problems/failures that may impact on the organization and/or its clients/customers to the supervisor or department manager.

Responsibly use resources and control expenses to meet budgetary controls.

Adhere to all the company policies and procedures.

Set an example for team members of commitment, application of skill, work ethics and habits and personal character.

From time to time you may be expected to be part of special projects as are reasonably required of your job role.

Drive to the safety, quality, and productivity goals.

You are responsible for your allocated workload and must meet all targets as agreed with your manager.

SPECIFIC DUTIES, ACTIVITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

  • First Shift will be from 6:00am – 2:30pm
  • Second shift will be from 2:30pm – 11:00 pm
  • You will be expected to work overtime, when necessary, to meet the needs of the team and your targets.
  • Overtime is mandatory when 48-hour notice is given.
  • Be safe, punctual, productive, communicative, and take pride and quality in your work.
  • Be able to safely lift as much as 25-70lbs, otherwise contact material handlers within the immediate area.
  • Equipment
  • You are responsible for the equipment provided to you for use in your job role. This means you must ensure that equipment is used in accordance with training provided, all the organization’s policies and procedures and the law and using, where applicable, any safety equipment or Personal Protective Equipment provided. You are responsible for ensuring that the equipment you use is maintained and can always be used/operated.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Education and Training: OTJ Training or Education in MIG Welding or Certified MIG Welder (AWS, American Welding Society).

Experience: 2-years of education or training, 2-years of work experience or pass internal welding exam through MMP.

Knowledge and Skills: Proficiency in MIG Welding, Grinding, Fabrication.
