Mig Welder/Fabricator

Hours of work** : 7am - 4.30pm Monday-Thursday; 7am - 12pm Friday

To perform skilled welding works in the fabrication of mild steel as per customer specifications, from chassis to smaller components with the ability to read Auto-cad drawings working on own initiative.

MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Lay out, position, and secure parts and assemblies according to specifications, using straightedge, combination square, callipers, and ruler
• Tack-weld or weld components and assemblies, using arc welding equipment
• Cut work-piece, gas burners ,abrasive wheels.
• Observe or monitor objects to determine compliance with prescribed operating or safety standards.
• Visually inspect welds to determine compliance with standards.
• Inspect grooves, angles, or gap allowances, using micrometer, calliper, and precision measuring instruments
• Removes rough spots from work-piece, using portable grinder, hand file, or scraper
• Weld components in flat, vertical, or overhead positions.
• Heat, form, and dress metal parts, using hand tools, torch, or arc welding equipment.
• Ignite torch and adjust valves, amperage, or voltage to obtain desired flame or arc.
• Analyse engineering drawings and specifications to plan layout, assembly, and welding operations.
• Develop templates and other work aids to hold and align parts.
• Read and interpret blueprints and working drawings.
• Work at heights
• Clean equipment using appropriate materials
• Operate overhead mechanical lifting systems
• Learn job-related material primarily through oral instruction and observation
• Observe, receive, & otherwise obtain information from all relevant sources
• Measure distance using a tape measure or other measuring device
• Work safely without presenting a direct threat to self or others
• Demonstrate continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality seamless customer service
