The Mining Manager will be responsible for overseeing the transition of resources to reserves, followed by the development and implementation of efficient mining plans, schedules, and excavation/dump designs. This role requires the creation of strategic designs and schedules to support the execution of drilling, blasting, and overall mine production operations.


Resources to
Reserve Conversion:


  • Oversee the transfer of resource models to reserve models, ensuring accurate pit optimization, mine scheduling, and detailed mining plans.
  • Define and classify total ore and waste within the project to accurately assess financial and economic feasibility.


Mine
Planning & Operations Management:


  • Develop and implement both short- and long-term mining plans and schedules to support operational goals.
  • Manage all aspects related to stockpile and waste dump operations.
  • Oversee and approve detailed schedules, layouts, and open-pit production plans.
  • Monitor and optimize drilling and blasting activities to improve efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
  • Work closely with geologists to optimize grade control and minimize dilution through effective mine designs and plans.
  • Ensure mining designs and practices align with regulatory standards and company policies.
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance on mining and mineral extraction projects.


Operational Monitoring
& Performance Tracking:


  • Establish production targets and monitor performance to ensure timely achievement.
  • Track actual progress against planned production and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Ensure accurate measurement and reporting of key mining performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Provide regular reports and forecasts to align operations with monthly and yearly budget targets.


Requirements

  • Minimum of 15 years open pit mine production/planning experience.
  • Experience in running a mining operation.
  • BSc. in Mining Engineering. Preferred training:
  • Certificates for at least one of the mine designs softwares like Deswik, Datamine, Surpac or Micromine.
  • Hands-on experience in drilling and blasting operations
  • Proficiency in using the latest mining software for design, planning, and optimization.
  • Expertise in resource-to-reserve conversion, including pit design, mine planning, and scheduling.
