Mobile Crisis Clinical Coordinator

POSITION IS 1P-9P, MONDAY-FRIDAY WITH SOME WEEKENDS REQUIRED.

General Definition:

The Clinical Coordinator II is a critical member of

the crisis response team, responsible for providing timely and effective intervention for individuals experiencing

behavioral health crises. This position combines direct clinical services with coordination and dispatch

responsibilities to ensure rapid engagement, stabilization, and transition planning for consumers in need. The

role requires strong clinical judgment, flexibility, and the ability to work collaboratively within a 24/7 team environment to deliver whole-person, recovery-oriented care.

Performance Expectations (Quality and Quantity):

Each dispatcher will be assigned primary and secondary responsibilities, these assignments may change at any time depending on the needs of the agency/department and at the direction of the supervisor.

Key Responsibilities

Telephone Triage & Referral Coordination

  • Respond to crisis calls from consumers, families, community members, and Partners Behavioral Health Management.
  • Ensure timely engagement for all referrals: respond within 30 minutes by phone and provide face-to-face response within 2 hours.
  • Assign calls to mobile clinicians based on consumer needs and maintain contact with consumers if dispatch is delayed.
  • Process referrals from local agencies promptly and arrange placement on Facility-Based Crisis (FBC) units and coordinate with FBC nursing staff to facilitate unit admissions

Mobile Crisis Response

  • Respond to consumers in various settings (homes, hospitals, schools, jails, shelters, PCC sites, etc.), meeting them in the least restrictive environment.
  • Conduct crisis screenings and assessments, develop crisis plans, and assist with transition planning, including referrals to appropriate resources and levels of care.
  • Provide follow-up and transition support until discharge criteria are met.

Clinical Services

  • Utilize crisis prevention and intervention techniques under supervision to achieve positive outcomes.
  • Deliver treatment approaches such as assessment, individual/family counseling, psycho-educational groups, and recovery-focused interventions for mental health and substance use disorders.
  • Maintain productivity standards and effectively use clinical supervision for professional growth.

Documentation & Compliance

  • Complete all required documentation and service notes within 24 hours of the event, ensuring compliance with PCC policies, purchaser requirements, and clinical standards.
  • Maintain accurate service and billing records that reflect services provided and consumer progress.
  • Track and monitor referrals, response times, and outcomes.

Team Collaboration & Flexibility

  • Work as part of a 24/7 clinical team, maintaining positive relationships with consumers, community stakeholders, and internal departments.
  • Participate in rotational scheduling, including first, second, and third shifts, weekends, holidays as assigned.
  • Adapt to changing roles and responsibilities based on program needs and supervisory direction.

  • Credentialing Bodies: NCDHHS, CARF, DMA, and Partners Behavioral Health Management
  • Training & Continuing Education
  • Attend assigned training and maintain credentialing and privileging, including:
  • Required certifications (NCI, CPR, First Aid, Bloodborne Pathogens, Consumer Rights)
  • PCC Employee Code of Ethics and clinical policies
  • 20 hours of crisis training as defined in PCC HR Training and Development Policy (I-B-006)
  • Supervision sessions and group staff meetings as assigned
  • Other Duties
  • Complete additional tasks as assigned by the supervisor to support program needs and organizational goals.

General Knowledge and Skills (will possess at the time of employment or will be expected to learn upon employment):

General Knowledge of the dynamics of MH/DD/SA behavioral health disorders (BHD) and their impact upon persons served and their families; the bio/psycho/social factors involved in (BHD); up-to-date principles/techniques (evidence-based/best practices) of crisis response, prevention, and intervention application to individuals possessing (BHD); the community resources available to persons with (BHD), to include behavioral health, social service, community services, and self-help groups; knowledge of billing and service record documentation requirements (NC Division of MH/DD/SA ASAM/IPRS, DMA/Value Options, CCMH/LME, and PCC policy/procedure.

General Skill in the application of crisis assessment/prevention/intervention techniques that are considered evidence-based/best practices as defined by the NC Division of MH/DD/SA, and/or literature/research, and organizational policy/procedure; skill in the delivery of services using accepted crisis treatment modalities, to include, individual, family, marital, and in-community; skill in establishing/maintaining effective therapeutic and professional relationships with persons served and/or their family members; behavioral health providers; and, skill in accurately documenting services provided and billed.

Qualifications:

Clinical Assignment Coordinator

· Bachelor's or Master’s degree from a four-year college or university in a human services field; and two years of related experience with the MH/SA population.

· Must meet the NC Division of MH/DD/SA requirements for Qualified Professional for the primary population of consumers served.

· CADC certification

· Clinical licensure such as Associate (provisional) licensure such as LCSW-A, LCAS-A, LCMHC-A, LMFT-A, etc.

Additional Job Requirements:

· Must have the ability to effectively hear and communicate with other employees, professionals, law enforcement, magistrate the public, and persons served.

· Must have physical mobility to respond and provide service in various community and onsite locations.

· Shift work is required as part of this position with a team requirement to provide 24/7/365 clinical coverage.

· Must provide crisis prevention/intervention services in community locations including hospital settings, in-home, and other locations that are safe in the community. In-home crisis intervention may require an escort from law enforcement.

· Must have reliable transportation, maintain a valid NC driver’s license, and maintain adequate automobile insurance.

· Limited consumer transportation may be required when applicable and approved by the immediate supervisor.

· Travel is required as part of this position and may use the company-supplied vehicle and/or use of a personal vehicle with mileage reimbursement as defined in PCC policy/procedure.

· Must have the ability to operate a telephone, fax machine, and computer hardware/software.

· Requires superior writing skills, and the ability to compose a variety of complex and sophisticated professional documents, assessments, and reports. Requires the ability to comprehend and explain complicated clinical documents and professional literature.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $24.86 - $26.44 per hour
