Mobile Phlebotomist

PMH Mobile Phlebotomist – Calexico, CA

PMH Laboratory, Inc. is seeking an experienced, compassionate, and professional Mobile Phlebotomist to join our growing team serving Calexico. This position is ideal for a dependable healthcare professional who enjoys working independently while providing exceptional patient care in physician offices.

As the face of our laboratory, you will play a vital role in delivering outstanding customer service while ensuring specimens are collected, documented, and transported according to laboratory standards.

Responsibilities

  • Perform venipuncture, capillary collections, and specimen collection using proper techniques and safety protocols.
  • Travel throughout the Calexico area to assigned facility locations.
  • Verify patient identity using government-issued identification and insurance information.
  • Collect and accurately document patient demographic information.
  • Ensure every requisition includes:
  • Complete patient demographics
  • Valid physician order
  • ICD-10 diagnosis codes
  • Physician notes when required
  • Copy of insurance information
  • Copy of patient identification
  • Review requisition forms for completeness before specimen collection.
  • Process, label, package, and await courier for transportation of specimens while maintaining specimen integrity and chain of custody.
  • Maintain compliance with OSHA, HIPAA, CLIA, and laboratory quality assurance standards.
  • Communicate professionally with physicians, nursing staff, patients, laboratory personnel as well as administration and HR.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and complete daily collection/supply logs.
  • Represent PMH Laboratory with professionalism, integrity, and exceptional customer service.

Qualifications Required

  • Current California Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT I or CPT II) License.
  • National Phlebotomy Certification (CPT or equivalent).
  • Minimum 3 years of professional phlebotomy experience.
  • Must reside in or near Calexico, California.
  • Valid California driver's license with reliable personal transportation.
  • Current automobile insurance meeting California requirements.
  • Must successfully pass a pre-employment background check.
  • Ability to travel locally throughout assigned territory.
  • Excellent venipuncture and capillary collection skills across diverse patient populations.
  • Strong understanding of specimen collection, processing, labeling, and transportation requirements.
  • Working knowledge of laboratory procedures, specimen handling techniques, and medical terminology.
  • Proficiency in reviewing and obtaining:
  • ICD-10 diagnosis codes
  • Physician orders
  • Clinical notes
  • Insurance verification
  • Patient identification
  • Complete demographic information
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently while managing daily routes and priorities.
  • Basic computer proficiency and ability to complete electronic documentation.

Preferred

  • Prior experience in a clinical laboratory, diagnostic laboratory, physician office, hospital, or mobile phlebotomy setting.
  • Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and advanced venipuncture techniques.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Frequent driving throughout the assigned service area.
  • Ability to perform repetitive hand movements associated with specimen collection.
  • Visual acuity sufficient to accurately identify veins, labels, and patient information.
