POSITION SUMMARY:
The technician is responsible for the diagnosis, repair, reconditioning, overhaul and maintenance of customer heavy equipment and/or components. Generally, works on site as repairs are needed at various customer designated locations.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Repairs heavy equipment engine and components
- Able to read schematics (both electrical and hydraulic)
- Prepares inspection and appraisal reports
- Correctly charges work to appropriate work order segments
- Prepares accurate and complete service reports and turns in on time
- Communicating clearly with the Service Lead and customers on site to clarify instructions and discuss scope of repairs
- Cleans, repairs, reconditions, and maintains equipment and components
- Removes, disassembles, assembles, and installs components and parts
- Orders replacement parts, ensuring that parts orders are correct and complete at the time of order
- Tests, measures, and adjusts engine and machine systems and components
- Diagnoses and Repairs machine and engine malfunctions and failures
- Keeps up to date with developments in tooling, technologies, and systems
- Uses safe working practices and follows all company safety requirements
- Maintaining the service truck in clean, organized, safe and well operating condition
- Works on rotating on call schedule as needed
- Always considers updates and developments to ensure ongoing efficiencies and development of the department.
- Complete any associated paperwork for customer work orders
- Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Works in a cooperative manner with other team members to accomplish the goals of the shop and the company
- Capable of communicating effectively and professionally with customers
- Ability to work in a fast paced and sometimes loud environment.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
Required:
- 3+ years of experience in electrical, drive train, engines, hydraulics and computer controlled systems.
- High School Diploma or GED, with graduation from an accredited technical school in diesel engine or heavy equipment repair preferred.
- Experience performing repairs on Bobcat, John Deere, Case, CAT, Kubota or other construction/agricultural equipment, required
- Strong skills in hydraulics, electrical, and diesel mechanics.
- Ability to learn company policies and procedures and complete documentation accurately and thoroughly
- Computer skills
- Ability to work independently and as a team with minimal supervision
- Valid Driver’s License and clean driving record
- Pass background check and pre-employment drug-screen
